MANILA – The University of the Philippines (UP) demonstrated its resilience, staging a dramatic 22-point comeback to defeat Adamson University and stay undefeated in UAAP Season 87.
The Fighting Maroons improved their record to 5-0 in the men’s basketball tournament after besting the Soaring Falcons, 69-57, in their match on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena, Pasay City.
After a slow start in the first 15 minutes, where they trailed by as much as 31-9, UP found their rhythm and ignited a 25-2 run that spanned the second and third quarters.
A basket by JD Cagulangan at the 7:47 mark of the third quarter gave UP a 34-33 lead.
UP continued to dominate, building a lead of up to 15 points at 65-50, following a basket by Janjan Felicilda midway through the final quarter.
That cushion was enough to hand Adamson their third loss in six games.
