Manila, Philippines — The Binibining Pilipinas 2025 pageant crowned its new queens in a dazzling coronation night held yesterday, June 15 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Katrina Anne Johnson of Davao earned the title of Binibining Pilipinas International 2025 and Annabelle Mae McDonnell of Iligan City named Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2025.
During the Q&A portion, newly crowned BBP International 2025 dazzled with her silver gown, not only showcased her beauty but also her wit. She was asked about her reaction from the quote, “”Lies told a thousand times become the truth,” and how fake news corrupt the society.
She responded, while social and media has been a channel for connection globally, fake news was still a concerning issue.
The pharmacist by profession beauty queen then emphasized, “the best way we can combat that is to make sure that we are educating people on how to discern information. We need to be aware, we need to regulate, and make our online communities a safe space for everyone.”
Meanwhile, pageant veteran McDonnell don with her shiny pink gown was asked about the recent news about a woman emerging out of a drainage in Makati City and what lessons she could gain from the condition.
McDonnell drawing from her own experiences shared, “Speaking as someone who experienced involuntary hunger and malnourishment at the age of 15, I say that I wish you never go hungry another night. I think that when you hit rock bottom, don’t despair and don’t use that as your identity. But rather, use rock bottom as your launchpad. I have done exactly that, I have sold bread, I sold ukay-ukay clothes and all the more rackets just to survive and support my family. You can do it, as long as you believe in the beauty of your dreams.”
Aside from the new titleholders, Dalia Varde Khattab of Las Piñas and Kathleen Enid Espenido of Siargao were hailed as BBP first-runner up and second-runner up respectively.
