Capas, Tarlac – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) incinerated 1,530.647 kilograms of illegal drugs at the Clean Leaf International Corporation in Barangay Cutcut on Capas, Tarlac, June 25.
The illegal drugs worth PhP9.48 billion were intercepted through various anti-drug operations conducted by PDEA with the assistance of other law enforcement agencies such as Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).
The incineration took 24 hours in burning and cooling the illegal drugs.
Following this, the agency will also conduct an on-site confirmatory testing to ensure that the illegal drugs have been completely burned. However, if it is found that the drugs are not consumed, the process will continue.
Meanwhile, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who personally attended the event show certainty about the move.
“Dahil kailangan tiyakin natin na ‘yung mga nahuhuling drugs ay talagang sinisira at wala nang pag-asa na bumalik pa, na maibenta pa, na makuha, ire-report. At alam naman natin kung ano ‘yung mga ibang pangyayari na nakikita natin,” he said.
Marcos added, “I am also happy that I was able to get the opportunity na makapunta rito para makita ko rin ang buong sistema from the capture, all the way until its destruction.”
He also emphasized that the initiative will demonstrate the government’s commitment to the anti-drug campaign in the country. — Raymond Jacinto, Contributor
