Bongbong Marcos Pays Tribute to His Father on 35th Death Anniversary

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. commemorated the 35th death anniversary of his father, former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr., with a heartfelt message shared on his social media accounts.

“My father dedicated his life to serving our nation, championing development, justice, unity, and nationalism,” the President expressed in his post on Facebook and Instagram. “Above all, he believed deeply in the Filipino people.”

Reflecting on a personal vow, Marcos Jr. recalled the promise he made to his father, who passed away in exile in Hawaii in 1989, two years after the Marcos regime was ended by the People Power Revolution.

“Thirty-five years ago, I promised to honor his life’s work by continuing to build on its foundations. In some way, I hope I’ve made you proud, Dad. We miss you every day,” he wrote.

Ferdinand Marcos Sr., the 10th president of the Philippines, led the country from 1965 until his ousting in February 1986. His remains, initially displayed in a glass coffin at the Marcos Museum and Mausoleum in Batac, Ilocos Norte, were transferred to the Libingan ng mga Bayani in 2016 by order of then-President Rodrigo Duterte.
