Manila, Philippines — The Department of Energy (DOE) has expressed recognition of the significant relief that the removal or reduction of the Value-Added Tax (VAT) on electricity bills could bring to Filipino households and businesses.
According to the agency, it is prepared to provide technical support to the government’s economic managers to help ensure a balanced approach between lowering electricity costs and maintaining sufficient funding for government projects.
The DOE also emphasized that, aside from tax-related measures, it continues to push for reforms in the energy sector aimed at achieving a more stable, reliable, and affordable power supply in the future.
