Manila, Philippines — Last week, former policeman Rodulfo Gracioso Jr. came forward to reveal the alleged cash deliveries he made to Vice President Sara Duterte and her brother, Davao 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte.
Gracioso claimed that the deliveries were made upon the orders of former House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco, who served as Speaker of the House of Representatives from 2020 to 2022.
On Monday, the Philippine National Police confirmed that Gracioso had served as part of Velasco’s security detail.
Despite now being implicated in the revelations, the Bureau of Immigration confirmed that Velasco is currently out of the country.
According to BI, Velasco has no derogatory record and there is no existing hold departure order against him that would prevent him from leaving the country.
The agency did not provide further details about Velasco’s trip, citing the Data Privacy Act.
On Monday, Gracioso appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation and submitted evidence related to his allegations, which will now undergo evaluation.
Velasco’s camp denied the allegations, as did the Vice President’s camp.
