Manila, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas has officially sealed its place in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup after New Zealand’s Tall Blacks outclassed Chinese Taipei, 81-64, on Monday, November 25.
The Philippines, holding an unblemished 4-0 record in Group B, was assured of a spot in next year’s tournament in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, after New Zealand’s victory.
The Tall Blacks’ win was spearheaded by former Converge import Thomas Vodanovich, who delivered 11 points, five rebounds, and two steals in a strong performance on home soil.
Corey Webster contributed nine points to bolster New Zealand’s offense.
With their ticket to the FIBA Asia Cup, Gilas Pilipinas will still compete in the third and final qualifying window in February next year.
