Manila, Philippines — The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has expressed support for the extension of the term of Philippine National Police (PNP) officials by another year.
NAPOLCOM Vice Chairperson and Executive Officer Atty. Ralph Vicente Calinisan emphasized that the extension of officials’ terms should not only be based on mandate but should also be reserved for deserving PNP personnel.
“The first to be extended for meritorious service was actually my father”, NAPOLCOM Vice Chairman Ralph Calinisan said in a statement sent to EuroTV Philippines.
He said that it was during the time that then President Joseph Estrada extended the police service of Brig. Gen. Roberto Calinisan. He was supposed to mandatorily retire in April 2000, but was extended until April 2001.
This follows Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla’s call to extend the police service of Police Regional Office 4A (CALABARZON) Director Brig. Gen. Hansel Marantan by one more year. Marantan is set to retire on July 10.
