During Monday’s hearing, the House Justice Committee unanimously voted in approval of the committee report and resolution containing the impeachmnet articles against Vice President Sara Duterte.
The committee report is set to be included in the plenary’s order of business for voting expected next week.
As early as now, some members of the committee have expressed confidence that the complaints will be approved and Duterte will be impeached.
The Constitution mandates that an impeachment must be voted by 1/3 or atleaast 106 members of the House of Representatives.
On her end, Duterte seemed unfazed with the recent developments on her impeachment complaints.
She said that she understands the public sentiment if they really wanted her out of the position.
Howver, she criticized lawmakers that expresses certainty that she will be impeached.
She said that this is questionable, given that lawmakers are the one handling her impeachment complaints.
Earlier, Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte accussed that congressmen are now being blackmailed to favor the impeachment or face budget cut for their districts.
Despite the criticisms and controversies, the Vice President said that these does not affect her disposition.
She likewised expressed gratitude to her supporters who have stayed, even when her friends in the politics have left her.
