PRIVATE SCHOOL TEACHERS TO RECEIVE P24K ANNUAL SUBSIDY BY SY. 2025-2026

Manila, Philippines – During the fourth Presidential State of the Nation Address (SONA), President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. once again highlighted the government’s aim to further improve the education sector.

While the government remains committed to ensuring quality education for students, Marcos emphasized government works to ensure welfare and support towards the teachers as well.

Following this directive, the Department of Education (DepEd) announced the recent approval of a P6,000 increase in the annual salary subsidy of private school teachers.

Starting School Year 2025-2026, qualified private school teachers will be receiving P24,000 Teachers’ Salary Subsidy yearly from recent P18,000.

This is under the Government Assistance to Students and Teachers in Private Education (GASTPE) program, which is still aside from their regular salary.

To be qualified, teachers must be licensed, full-time employed in a private school, and must have a minimum of three hour Education Service Contracting classes per week.

DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara underscored that this is just one of the agency’s programs to ensure that private school teachers will also receive the same benefit and support from the government, along with public school teachers.

He also assured that the government and DepEd will continue to address needs and secure welfare of teachers in the country. – Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
