MEDICAL TEAMS DEPLOYED TO CEBU PROVINCE FOLLOWING MAGNITUDE 6.9 EARTHQUAKE

Manila, Philippines – The Department of Health (DOH) has already deployed a medical team in Cebu to assist,  following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck a large part of the province causing destruction of several households and infrastructure, while some individuals were also reported injured and dead.

This is in accordance with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to immediately provide aid to the people of Cebu affected by the strong earthquake.

The DOH promptly deployed health workers and prepared emergency medical response teams in the province.

The first batch of the medical team from the DOH Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (DOH-VSMMC) arrived early this morning.

Among those sent were general surgeons, emergency medicine doctors, and orthopedic specialists, carrying medical supplies and other equipment necessary to immediately respond to injured patients.

The second batch of health workers from the DOH medical team from Cebu City followed shortly after.
