FIRE BREAKS OUT ON MINDANAO AVE. QC, RAISED TO 3RD ALARM; AFFECTED FAMILIES NOT LESS THAN 100

Quezon City, Philippines – A large fire ripped through the residential area of Mindanao Ave. Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa, Quezon City this morning.

The incident was raised to third alarm and was later declared fire under control at nearly 8 a.m.

According to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), most of the residents here are informal settlers, which is why they had difficulty entering and extinguishing the fire because the area was too crowded and they had to go down to their homes.

Various volunteers also helped in the rescue operation to quickly extinguish the fire, while QC-TTMD, PNP, MMDA and Barangay BPSO personnel also assisted in the rescue operation for smooth traffic flow.

Most of the houses at the scene of the fire are made of light materials, which is why the fire spread quickly.

Meanwhile, the agency still does not have an initial report on the exact number of families affected and damage data from the incident.

While one resident was reported to have suffered minor injuries, no fatalities were reported due to the incident.—Grachella Corazon, Eurotv News
