GILAS PILIPINAS WON AGAINST GUAM FOR THE SECOND TIME; 2-0 RECORD FOR THE 2027 FIBA WORLD CUP ASIAN QUALIFIERS

Manila, Philippines – Gilas Pilipinas continues to dominate Team Guam, as they beat them for the second time at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym yesterday, December 1. 

They are now 2-0 in the 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers. 

The outcome was the same as the previous game, Justin Brownlee leading the offense with 20 points. 

Dwight Ramos also managed to get 19 points, as well as Kevin Quiambao who contributed 12 points. 

Gilas shot an efficient 50% from the field, and beat Guam in terms of playmaking, with a 26-8 advantage in assists. 

The final score of their game is 95 – 71. 

Gilas Pilipinas will look forward to facing New Zealand and Australia next February and March 2026. 

JAPETH AGUILAR ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT FROM GILAS PILIPINAS

Big man Japeth Aguilar announces his retirement from Gilas Pilipinas, and holds his final game against Guam. 

He represented the country for a decade, and was a part of the Filipino basketball history in FIBA. 

Aguilar was known for his tenacious defense, and his thunderous dunks. 

In his final game, he contributed 3 points, 1 rebound, and 1 steal. 

He did not hold any hesitation in his retirement as he is confident that the new era of Filipino big men in basketball is bright, and their talents will suddenly bloom with the leader that they have in Coach Tim Cone.
