HOUSE SPEAKER DY VOWS ZERO TOLERANCE ON CORRUPTION IN 2026 NAT’L BUDGET

Manila, Philippines – Following last year’s budget scandal, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. formally signed the P6.793 trillion 2026 General Appropriations Act (GAA), with the confidence that it will be free of corruption.

Despite this, the public remains on guard and alarmed over another budget corruption scandal this 2026.

While House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy understands these public sentiments, he also assured the Filipinos that the Congress will ensure that the 2026 national budget will be appropriately implemented and spent.

He described the 2026 GAA as the people’s budget, which is open, accountable, transparent, and is focused on programs and projects towards the improved lives of Filipinos.

He noted that this year’s budget will still focus on education—alloting the highest education budget in history—as well as the health sector.

Dy likewise expressed confidence on reforms on the 2026 budget process like bicameral conference livestream and replacement of small committees, which he noted as key factors in ensuring a trustworthy national budget.

Dy also expressed commitment in ensuring that the 2026 budget will be implemented smoothly and timely, citing the Congress’  constitutional duty to oversight the fund, working closely with the executive branch.

“There will be zero tolerance for corruption. No leakages, no shortcuts, and no excuses. Ang pera ng bayan ay dapat magamit para sa taumbayan,” Dy said.
