Manila, Philippines – Another historic event for Philippine sports once again, as this will be the first-time that the country will host WTA 125, which will be held on January 26 – 31.

Familiar faces of the sport will participate in the tournament including Donna Vekic of Croatia, Tatjana Maria of Germany, Xinyu Wang of China, Solana Sierra of Argentina, Moyuka Uchijima, Lulu Sun of New Zealand, Polina Kudermetova of Uzbekistan, and many more.

There is still no confirmation if Filipina tennis star Alex Eala will participate in the competition, as she is also going to compete in the Australia Open.

However, our other national representative in the tournament is a 18-year old bronze-medalist in this year’s SEA Games.

According to Tenny in an interview, her training routines were different for the WTA 125 and SEA Games.

She added that she doesn’t feel any pressure, and she will do her best.

The Executive Director of Philippine Tennis Association, Tonette Mendoza, made sure that Tenny will feel like she’s home, as she will be filled with support from the country.

For this to be successful, numerous organizations including PSC and PHILTA gave their overall support to organize the sport event.

According to PSC Chairman Gregorio, MMDA and DPWH had a thorough inspection for the routes and places that will be near the venue, and he is confident that it is currenly 85% done.

PHILTA Sec Gen John Ray Tiangco also announced that the organization secured a three-year agreement with the WTA 125, that means the country will host again.—Kyle Basa, Eurotv News
