ACT-CIS REP. EDVIC YAP RESIGNS FROM HOUSE

Manila, Philippines – ACT-CIS Partylist Representative Edvic Yap resigned from his post at the House of Representatives, announced during the plenary session on Wednesday.

During the session, it was confirmed that Yap submitted a resignation letter, leading to his removal from the roll of House members.

Yap was elected as the partylist representative in 2022 before he resigned this year.

Yap and his brother Benguet Rep. Eric Yap are among the lawmakers allegedly tied with the anomalous flood control projects, citing a supposed connection with Silverwolves Construction Corp.

The said company is facing graft and malversion charges over the unfinished P275.9-million flood control project in La Union.

Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Boying Remulla cited Anti-Money Laundering council’s findings that tranches of money from the Discaya couple was transferred in Yap’s bank accounts.

In December, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. confirmed that the Yap brothers’ bank accounts were among the assets tied with Silverwolves Construction Corp. and Sky Yard Aviation Corp. freezed via an order from the Court of Appeals.

Yap is yet to issue an official statement regarding his resignation.

He is set to be replaced by the succeeding nominee of the partylist proclaimed by the Commission on Elections.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
