COMELEC SUSPENDS FILIPINO VOTER REGISTRATION IN TEL AVIV AND IRAN AMID MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT

Manila, Philippines – The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has temporarily suspended overseas voter registration for Filipinos in Tel Aviv, Israel and Tehran, Iran, following the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

According to COMELEC, this decision aligns with Israeli government policies and the consular services of the Philippine embassies.

The suspension of registration at the Philippine Embassy in Tel Aviv is set until March 7, while there is no definite date yet for the suspension at the Philippine Embassy in Tehran.

COMELEC stated that consular services and overseas voter registration remain open for Filipinos who wish to register at other Philippine foreign posts in the Middle East.

The commission emphasized that the safety of Filipinos abroad remains their top priority amid the continuing conflict in the Middle East.

COMELEC also reminded affected Filipinos to rely only on official announcements and information from trusted and legitimate agencies such as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Philippine Embassy Consulate.

They are advised to stay alert for further announcements from the commission regarding voter registration.
