Manila, Philippines – As the government continues to evacuate Filipinos affected of the Middle East conflict, more than 1,200 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) have been repatriated.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac confirmed on Tuesday that six chartered flights are scheduled to land in the Philippines from Bahrain, Qatar and Israel.
They are part of the government’s repatriation effort amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
OFWs displaced by the war will receive financial assistance from the DMW’s Action Fund and other agencies, along with the government’s psychosocial support and reintegration program for those who do not want redeployment abroad.
The DMW assured of its continued response to Filipinos who requested to be evacuated from various countries in the Gulf nation, including at every post where DMW personnel are assigned to assist Filipinos for ground assistance.
According to Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, more than 7,255 Filipinos in various parts of the Middle East have been provided with assistance by the department since the US-Israeli attack on Iran began in February.
