CONG. KIKO BARZAGA POSTS BAIL AFTER SURRENDERING OVER CYBERLIBEL CASES

Manila, Philippines – On Monday night, Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga voluntarily surrendered himself before the Dasmariñas Component City Police Station.

This follows the arrest warrants issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 147, Makati City for 8 counts of cyberlibel cases filed against Barzaga.

The lawmaker was accompanied by his legal counsel and underwent due process in line with the necessary procedures.

The cases were filed by businessman Enrique Razon, Antipolo Rep. Ronaldo Puno and Manila Rep. Rolando Valeriano over Barzaga’s allegations over the National Unity Party receiving bribes to support former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.

Hours after the surrender, Barzaga was temporarily released after posting bail amounting to P384,000.

The bail for each case is set as P48,000.

In a Facebook post, Barzaga criticized President Ferdinand MArcos Jr. who he accused of putting him into prison.

He likewise reiterated his calls to oust Marcos accusing him of stealing in relation the the flood control scandal, as well as into enabling high oil prices.–Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
