2ND QUARTER NATIONWIDE SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL 2026 STRENGTHENS DISASTER PREPAREDNESS ACROSS THE PHILIPPINES

Manila, Philippines — The 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2026 was successfully conducted today, where government employees, schools, private sector employees, and citizens from other parts of the country joined forces to strengthen everyone’s preparedness for unexpected calamities.

The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) led the program starting at 9 a.m.

One of the main teachings of the agency is Duck, Cover, and Hold to protect oneself from possible dangers.

According to the duties, the activity aims to assess the capabilities of everyone not only school, office, and community staff whenever disasters occur, as well as to strengthen coordination and public awareness regarding the importance of earthquake preparedness.

Along with the drill, actions were also launched to prepare for strong aftershocks, including contingency plans for the possible impact of what is known as “The Big One” in Metro Manila and surrounding areas.

Officials stressed the importance of every citizen participating in regular earthquake drills to be prepared in the event of a real disaster.

The government continues to encourage the public to have a family emergency plan, prepare an emergency bag, and participate in disaster preparedness activities to reduce the risk and damage caused by earthquakes.–Grachella Corazon, Eurotv News
