EX-ATENEO COACH TAB BALDWIN TO APPEAR BEFORE NBI ON JUNE 23

Manila, Philippines — Amid the ongoing probe on the drowning incident that caused the death of two members of the Ateneo Blue Eagles Men’s Basketball team on June 8, its resigned head coach Tab Baldwin is expected to appear before the National Bureau of Investigation on Tuesday, June 23.

This is in line with the subpoena NBI issued to Baldwin and 19 other coaching officials over the investigation regarding the drowning incident.

On June 16, Baldwin was supposed to appear before the NBI but failed due to not being in a good condition.

He likewise failed to show up on the rescheduled apperance on Friday as he was at the Philippine National Police – Criminal Investigation and Detection Group who is conducting a separaet investigate on the same incident.

On Monday, some coaching officials have appeared at the NBI with their counsels, with their lawyers refusing to give a statement.

While the initial investigation noted that the incident was purely an accident, authorities still consider the possibility of it being a hazing incident and an issue of negligence resulting to the tragic passing away of the two student athletes.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
