TRILLANES FILES CYBERLIBEL CASE VS. CAYETANO, MARCOLETA, 18 ‘EX-BODYGUARDS OF ZALDY CO

Manila, Philippines — Liars will face formal complaints.

This was the clear warning issued by former Senator Antonio “Sonny” Trillanes against individuals who spread malicious and false information.

On Thursday, June 25, Trillanes filed another cyberlibel complaint against the 18 former security aides of resigned lawmaker Zaldy Co.

The group claimed to have delivered suitcases of money to some government officials—with the money allegedly kickbacked from flood control controversy.

Trillanes first filed a complaint against the group and their lawyer Atty. Levi Baligod after he was implicated to have allegedly received money to fund the International Criminal Court’s investigation in the Philippines.

Trillanes have since denied the allegations and respectively sued the group, former Congressman Mike Defensor, and some online personalities over malicious allegations and defamatory statements against him.

Three months after, Trillanes filed anew a cyberlibel case against the group, now involving Senators Alan Peter Cayetano and Rodante Marcoleta.

This is in relation to what Trillanes described as a rogue blue ribbon hearing conducted by the said parties, implicating more officials on the allegations.

On June 4, a Senate Blue Ribbon Committee led by Cayetano and Marcoleta was conducted despite the change in committee leaderships a day before the hearing.

Trillanes said that he will continue to pursue cases against the group if they continue lying.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
