Taguig City, Philippines — A 38 year old man was arrested after he forcibly entered the residence of his former live-in partner and fired a gunshot while pursuing the victim and her family during a domestic disturbance in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taguig City, early Monday morning July 14, 2026.
According to the Southern Police District (SPD), the incident occurred at around 4:05 a.m. when officers from the Taguig City Police Station (CPS) Sub-Station 4 responded to a distress call reporting that an armed man had broken into a residence in Pulong Kendi.
Upon arrival, the responding officers found the suspect, identified only as alias “John,” who destroyed the victim’s door to gain entry into the house. The victim, together with her parents and siblings, reportedly hid inside the comfort room as the suspect chased them while carrying a firearm.
Police said the suspect repeatedly struck the comfort room door before firing a shot toward it, placing the occupants in fear and endangering their safety.
When responding officers arrived, they found the suspect inside the residence while holding a revolver. He was immediately disarmed and taken into custody after failing to present a valid license or permit for the firearm.
Authorities recovered one revolver, one .22 caliber cartridge, and three live .22 caliber rounds of ammunition from the suspect.
He now faces charges for Violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), Grave Threat, Malicious Mischief, and Trespass to Dwelling.
The suspect was brought to the Taguig-Pateros District Hospital for medical examination before being turned over to the Investigation and Detective Management Section for proper documentation and the filing of appropriate charges.
Meanwhile, the recovered firearm will undergo ballistic and cross-matching examination by the Southern Police District Forensic Unit, while authorities will verify with the Firearms and Explosives Office whether the suspect has any registered firearm or license.
Southern Police District Director PBGEN Glenn Oliver C. Cinco commended the responding officers for their prompt action, saying their immediate response prevented the incident from escalating and ensured the safety of the victims. He also urged the public to promptly report emergencies and incidents that threaten life and public safety.—Graciella Diez, Contributor
