The Department of Social Welfare and Development assured the families of landslide victims in Baguio that they will receive P10,000 ayuda or financial assistance.
DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian announced this personally to the families of the victims as he traveled to Baguio city during his visit to their wake. He also visited the survivors who are still recovering in the hospital on Tuesday.
He personally extended his condolences and assured that the government will be extending all the necessary assistance for the families and the survivors.
Gatchalian added that DSWD will shoulder all the expenses for the wake and burial of the victims.
It can be recalled that the landslide happened on Sunday night at riverside Purok 2, Barangay Guisad Surong.
At least 13 people were killed in several landslides in this city and the nearby town of Atok, Benguet.
Authorities continue to monitor the affected areas while Rescue and recovery efforts are also ongoing as officials assess the damage caused by the landslides.—Lance Enriquez, Contributor
