CANLAON CITY, PHILIPPINES – The local government of Canlaon City, Negros Oriental has warned the public against participating in private donation drives for residents affected by the Kanlaon Volcano eruption.
The local government stated that there are sufficient resources from the provincial, regional, and national government, particularly the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region 7, to meet the current needs of Canlaon City.
To prevent misuse of the calamity situation, similar to previous incidents in the city, they urged residents to contact the LGU directly.
For those wishing to help, the LGU has provided a contact number to ensure assistance is properly coordinated.
“If you wish to donate and support the victims, please coordinate directly with the LGU through the Incident Command System for proper guidance, coordination, and acknowledgment. For donations, you may contact Bongbong Woo Tadifa at 0918-951-1395,” the statement read.
