Aklan Municipalities Under ASF Red Alert: Ongoing Battle Against Swine Fever

Three municipalities in Aklan are currently classified under the red zone for African Swine Fever (ASF), while twelve other towns are designated as pink or buffer zones, as reported by the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Animal Industries.

According to Ava Marie Moises in a report for Super Radyo dzBB on Saturday, the municipalities under the red zone, indicating confirmed ASF cases, are:

  • Ibajay
  • Altavas
  • Tangalan

The following municipalities are categorized under the pink zone, which are ASF-free areas within an infected province or adjacent to red zones:

  • Kalibo
  • Malinao
  • Libacao
  • Balete
  • Madalag
  • Makato
  • Banga
  • New Washington
  • Numancia (recently downgraded from red)
  • Lezo (recently downgraded from red)
  • Batan (recently downgraded from red)
  • Nabas (recently downgraded from red)
  • Malay (recently downgraded from red)

Additionally, Buruanga is in the yellow zone or surveillance zone due to its high risk for ASF, attributed to its dense swine and pork trade population.

The Department of Agriculture continues to monitor the spread of ASF in these affected areas.
