MANILA, Philippines — BTS member Suga has been fined 15 million Won (approximately P632,000) for driving under the influence while riding an electric scooter.
According to court reports, a judge from the Seoul Western Court imposed the fine.
In August, Suga publicly apologized for the incident, acknowledging his mistake of operating the scooter while intoxicated.
“I feel deeply regretful and apologize for delivering this disappointing news,” Suga said, as reported by Soompi.
Suga explained that he used the electric scooter to head home after drinking at dinner, believing the destination was nearby.
However, he admitted he “failed to recognize” that riding an electric scooter while intoxicated is against the law. He added that he fell while parking the vehicle.
Following a breathalyzer test, his license was canceled, and he was fined.
“Although no one was harmed and no property was damaged, the responsibility is fully mine without excuse, and I sincerely apologize to everyone.
I regret my careless actions, and I will strive to be more mindful in the future to prevent this from happening again,” he said.
