COMELEC BEGINS PRINTING 73 MILLION BALLOTS FOR 2025 ELECTIONS

Quezon City, Philippines – Months ahead of the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) and Bangsamoro Parliamentary Elections (BPE), the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has begun printing 73 million official ballots.

The process taking place at the National Printing Office in Quezon City will cover over 68 million ballots for the NLE, with the rest allocated for the BPE, overseas voting, and local absentee voting, said Comelec Chairperson George Garcia.

He explained that the printing of ballots for overseas and absentee voters, as well as test ballots, would be prioritized before shifting to those for local precincts.

The agency is utilizing two high-tech HP PageWide Advantage 2200 machines, which can produce up to 950,000 ballots daily.

The machines feature automated systems that streamline the cutting, stacking, and verification of precinct-specific ballots.

Garcia, meanwhile, expressed confidence that the printing process, scheduled to last 77 days, would meet its deadline.

Comelec has prepared ballots for approximately 44,000 candidates vying for over 18,000 positions, with names listed alphabetically.
