Quezon City, Philippines – The Commission on Elections En banc released a resolution dated June 26, 2025 lifting the suspension of the proclamation of Congressman-elect Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro after a ruling sought to cancel his Certificate of Candidacy (COC).
“The Resolution dated 11 December 2024 promulgated by the Commission (First Division) is hereby REVERSED and SET ASIDE. The Order for the SUSPENSION OF THE PROCLAMATION OF RESPONDENT MARCELINO “MARCY” R. TEODORO issued by the Commission (En Banc) on 12 May 2025 is HEREBY LIFTED,” says the resolution.
Marcelino won the 2025 midterm elections as the Representative for the 1st District of Marikina City, after garnering 75,062 votes over Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III’s 29,091.
However, the proclamation has been suspended by the COMELEC’S First Division due to a case filed concerning an alleged material misrepresentation before the poll body questioning his residency address.
The En banc said that the petitioners Leighrich Estanislao and Pimentel failed to prove the material misrepresentation of Teodoro’s COC.
“Finally, the Certificate of Candidacy of herein RESPONDENT MARCELINO “MARCY” R. TEODORO for Member of the House of Representatives, 1st District, Marikina City in the 12 May 2025 National and Local Elections is hereby REINSTATED.” — Ruzzel Andante, Contributor
