Manila, Philippines — More than a month after a blaze hits NIA Road in Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City, leaving several residents homeless.
Another fire occurred in the same area past 12 midnight today, April 30.
According to the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO), the fire reached the third alarm level.
In connection with this, the Quezon City local government unit (LGU) denied circulating claims that the fire was intentionally set.
Based on the initial investigation by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the fire reportedly started due to the burning of copper in an abandoned house.
The city advised QCitizens to refrain from spreading unverified information to prevent the spread of fake news.
At present, the Quezon City government has already provided assistance to affected families and individuals, who have been temporarily relocated to designated evacuation centers in Camp Carinagl Covered Court and Brgy. Vasra Multi-purpose hall.
Meanwhile, the local government emphasized that financial aid and housing support for those previously affected by the earlier NIA fire continue to be provided.
