APPROACH WITH IMPARTIALITY AND OBJECTIVITY – SP ESCUDERO TO SENATORS AMID IC VS. VP DUTERTE

Manila, Philippines — Senate President Chiz Escudero has reminded the importance of impartiality and objectivity as the Senate braces for a potential impeachment trial following the filing of a formal complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte by various groups.

In an online statement, the Senate President reminded colleagues to refrain from making public comments about the allegations.

“Any perception of bias could undermine the public’s trust in the Senate as an institution. We must approach this with the impartiality and objectivity demanded of us,” the Senate President stated.

While acknowledging the divisive nature of impeachment, the Senate President reiterated the chamber’s commitment to legislative duties in strict adherence to the Rule of Law.

The Senate, he assured, is prepared to fulfill its constitutional mandate “with integrity and impartiality” while remaining focused on the nation’s welfare, regardless of the political noise surrounding the impeachment proceedings.

“This is what justice requires. This is what our people demand,” said Escudero.
