BARMM — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) is intensifying its preparations for the scheduled first ever BARMM Parliamentary Election on September 14, 2026.
During the Joint Command Conference held by the commission together with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), and other stakeholders.
They discussed the strict coordination among law enforcement agencies, the Bangsamoro Government, and Civil Society Organizations to ensure a safe, orderly, clean, and peaceful Parliamentary election.
According to the PNP, thousands of police personnel are ready to be deployed to provide security before and on election day.
Meanwhile, COMELEC Chairperson George Erwin Garcia said that, as of now, they have not recorded any incidents of violence or election-related incidents in BARMM areas.
Garcia also reported that teachers and support staff who will serve in the elections will receive an additional ₱1,000 honorarium.
This is on top of the ₱2,000 already given during the previous election.
Preparations for the BSKE were also included in the discussions during the Joint Conference despite the pending proposal to the congress to postpone the BSKE originally scheduled on November 2 this year.
The COMELEC Chair emphasized that they remain prepared not only for the overall process but also in terms of security.
He added that the final decision now whether the elections will proceed this year or be postponed amid the crisis will be in the hand of the Congress.
