CRIMES IN METRO MANILA DIPS BY 23.73% — NCRPO

Manila, Philippines — Crime rate in Metro Manila from November 23, 2024 until January 15 declined by 23.73%, says the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO).

In a statement, NCRPO acting chief Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin noted that there were 768 crime incidents recorded during this period, compared to the 1,007 crimes on the same period last year.

Aside from this decline in the crime rate, NCRPO has also reported 2,166 wanted persons and 349,465 local ordinances violators that were arrested during the same period, which Aberin attributed to the NCRPO’s intensified pursuit operations.

During this same timeframe, P153.29 million worth of drugs while P928,071.50 bet money from the anti-gambling campaign were seized.

Meanwhile, 364 illegal guns were confiscated, with 352 individuals possessing unregulated firearms were arrested.

Aberin stated that this decline in the general crime incidents reported in Metro Manila were results of the intensified police presence within communities, committing to continue aggressive operations and pursuit of law and justice.

NCRPO shall consider these initial operational milestones as our motivation to remain committed in performing our mandate of keeping the peace in Metro Manila. In 2025, the community can be assured that NCRPO’s campaign against illegal drugs will be more relentless, aggressive, and highly-analytical done with utmost regard to the due observance of the Police Operational Procedures and due process of law,” Aberin noted.
