With this, the Department of Labor and Employment reminded private employers and workers that will fail or refuse to work due to the danger posed by weather disturbances or similar occurences.
Secretary Francis Tolentino signed Labor Advisory No. 14, Series of 2026 on Wednesday, updating the guidelines on work suspensions for private sector, especially at the threat of an imminent danger.
The advisory states that the company may suspend work for employees affected by these situations.
Workers who will fail to go to work due to suspension are not entitled of their regular pay, unless stated on the company policy.
Employees may also use their accumulated leave credits if allowed by the employer.
Meanwhile, Employees who will go to work despite the suspension and will render atleast six hours are entitled of their full regular pay under the company’s policy.
Those that will not be able to render six hours are entitled of their proportional pay.
