United States – Filipino talent has conquered the global stage once again!
Philippine singer Sofronio Vasquez has brought home the bacon after winning The Voice US Season 26, capturing the hearts of thousands from around the world with his stunning voice.
In a finale to remember, December 10 (UST), the 32-year old singer, who also represented the Utica community in New York, delivered a breathtaking performance that earned him the ultimate title.
He wowed the judges and the audience with his powerful performances of Sia’s “Unstoppable” and “A Million Dreams” from The Greatest Showman.
Additionally, he teamed up with his coach, Michael Bublé, for a captivating duet of The Miracles’ “Who’s Lovin’ You.”
“I can’t wait to just be celebrating the opportunity and forever in my life it’s going to be the biggest gift,” Sofronio said in an interview with Access Hollywood after his victory.
“It was a hope for my family…I was able to give them the best holiday Christmas ever,” Sofronio added.
Meanwhile, Michael was elated by Sofronio’s win and dedicated the victory, not just by the Filipinos, but the entire Asian community.
“There is a whole country, and it isn’t just the Philippines, it’s Indonesia, it’s Singapore, it’s Malaysia…They’re going crazy,” the supportive coach Michael said.
This marked the first-ever Filipino and Asian to win the competition. He will also receive a grand prize of USD 100,000 and a recording contract.
Sofronio previously competed in Tawag ng Tanghalan on It’s Showtime in the Philippines and advanced to the semifinals. He was born in Misamis Oriental.
