Manila, Philippines — Following the intensified border protection and anti-smuggling efforts of the Bureau of Customs, 39 inbound parcels were intercepted in NAIA containing suspected illegal drugs.
BOC reported that 5 of these parcels were from India found to be containing 4,334 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu.
Its street value is estimated at P29. 539 million.
Meanwhile, the remaining 34 parcels were from the United States, Spain, Germany, Canada, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.
These contained 5,659 grams pf marijuana or kush valued at P8.488 million and 707 grams of ecstasy estimated at P3.004 million.
The overall intercepted shipments were estimated at P41 million of illegal drugs in separate operations.
The shipments were consigned to recipients addressed in Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Surigao, Antique, and others.
The intercepted parcels were turned-over to Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for laboratory examination and further investigation.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
