ITCZ, EASTERLIES TO BRING RAINS, THUNDERSTORMS OVER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY

Several areas across the Philippines can expect cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and easterlies.

In its 24-hour weather forecast issued on October 12, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the ITCZ is affecting Southern Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.

Meanwhile easterlies are bringing weather disturbances to the eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon.

The Bicol Region, MIMAROPA, Western and Central Visayas, Negros Island Region, Caraga, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, Leyte, and Southern Leyte may experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to ITCZ.

Similar conditions are expected in Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, and parts of Northern Luzon.

Meanwhile, Batanes and the Babuyan Islands may experience cloudy skies with rain due to the northeasterly windflow.

On the other hand, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Central Luzon, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Benguet, and Pangasinan will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to easterlies.

Other parts of Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao may experience isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms.

Separately, a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) was located about 3,060 kilometers east of Central Luzon.

It has maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 55 kilometers per hour.

PAGASA said it has a low chance to enter the PAR.
