JINGGOY ESTRADA FORMALLY CHARGED WITH PLUNDER CASE OVER FLOOD CONTROL MESS

Manila, Philippines — Two days after the Office of the Ombudsman confirmed that it is set to file a case against Senator Jinggoy Estrada, a formal criminal complaints was filed against him by the anti-graft body.

On Thursday, Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano submitted the complaints before the Sandiganbayan.

This plunder case is in connection to Estrada’s alleged links with the flood control scandal.

It can be recalled that ex-DPWH Bulacan engineer Brice Hernandez implicated Estrada in the issue, accusing him of receiving kickbacks and commissions from flood control projects.

Estrada have since denied the allegations and maintained that he has no insertion as accused.

Aside from Estrada, there are also incumbent senators under investigation over the flood control mess, including senators Joel Villanueva and Chiz Escudero.

In the senate’s Monday plenary session, Estrada was elected as the vice chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee, which conducted a probe on the flood control corruption scandal last year.
