LRT-1 ON TEMPORARY LIMITED OPERATIONS DUE TO ELECTRICAL ISSUE

Manila, Philippines – The private operator, Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) is implementing a temporary limited operation at LRT-1 due to electrical issues.

Trains in operation are only limited from Gil Puyat Station to Fernando Poe Jr. Station, and vice versa.

According to LRMC, their engineering team is now on the move to address the electrical issue “located between Redemptorist-Aseana Station and Baclaran Station.”

To resolve the issue, they are also running an assessment of their catenary facilities along with necessary restoration measures.

The advisory post said that “these proactive measures are crucial for ensuring safety and reliability across the entire LRT-1 system. LRMC is committed to providing continuous service to our passengers. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide real-time updates as progress is made.”

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this unforeseen incident.”

Meanwhile, Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon stated on Monday, June 16 in an event hosted by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines, that they are planning to spend P3 billion to build the Talaba Station.

The said station will be constructed between the Zapote and Niog station in the LRT 1 Cavite Extension project.

This is in line with the government’s plan to extend the railway to Cavite by 2030 to cater more passengers. | via Shaina Morales, Contributor
