Manila, Philippines – A recent Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey shows that 41% of Filipinos support the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, following several accusations including the controversial use of confidential and intelligence funds by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and her previous tenure as the Secretary of Department of Education (DepED).
The survey, conducted from December 12 to 18, 2024, also revealed that 35% of respondents were against the rap, while 19% remained undecided. Meanwhile, the other 5% said that they do not know enough about the issue.
The survey also uncovered regional and socioeconomic differences in opinion.
The highest level of support for impeachment was in Luzon outside of Metro Manila, at 50%, while 25% disagreed and 18% remained undecided.
Meanwhile, in Mindanao, the majority rejected the impeachment complaints, with 56% opposing, 22% in favor, and 18% undecided.
In the Visayas, 40% supported the motion, while 33% opposed, 24% were undecided.
On the other hand, the strongest support for impeachment came from socioeconomic Classes A, B, and C, with 50%, while Class E had the least support at 37%.
The survey, commissioned by Stratbase Consultancy, was conducted with a nationwide sample of 2,160 respondents, and a margin of error of plus or minus 2%.
