PEACEFUL RALLY SOUGHT BY DILG SEC. REMULLA

Manila, Philippines – Ahead of the planned rally of the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) at the Quirino Grandstand from November 16 to 18, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic Remulla called for a peaceful and orderly conduct of the event.

He emphasized that it is the agency’s duty to ensure that all activities during the gathering are safe and peaceful.

According to Remulla, the agency supports INC’s call for truth, accountability, and justice.

Preparations include heightened security measures, especially in areas near Malacañang, to prevent any possible disturbances.

The secretary also advised parents to monitor their children and ensure they do not get involved with groups that may cause trouble.

Remulla reminded the public that while the Constitution protects the right to free expression and peaceful assembly, this right does not include any form of violence or disorder. He assured that anyone who violates the law will be held accountable.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that more than 16,000 police officers will be deployed for the three-day protest to maintain peace and order in the area.
