Manila, Philippines – In recognition of their invaluable duties and leadership during disasters, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced a Base Pay increase for military and uniformed personnel (MUP) starting January 1, 2026, 2027, and 2028.
According to President Marcos, amidst the challenges and security threats the country faces, Filipinos remain secure due the police and military presence, being the first to response the call of duty despite the threat to their lives:
The base pay increase will cover those in the Department of the Interior and Local Government, Department of National Defense, Philippine Coast Guard, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Corrections, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority. In addition to the base pay, the subsistence allowance of MUP will also increase from 150 to P350 per day.
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) expressed its utmost appreciation to the Commander in Chief for the unwavering support given for the welfare of the troops.
The AFP said this gesture of support and recignition will serve as a significant boost to the morale of every military personnel.
The AFP assure the public to remain committed to their mandate to protect the country’s security.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) expresses its gratitude to Marcos or the trust he continues to extend to the men and women in uniform. His message gives renewed motivation to our personnel who carry out their duties each day to help keep our communities secure.
The PNP remains fully aligned with the national government’s efforts to strengthen peace and security. and will continue to uphold their mandate with professionalism and respect for the rights and dignity of every Filipino, and will stay prepared and responsive as new challenges emerge.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) also expressed its gratitude to Marcos saying this additional benefit will not only boost the morale of their members but will also enable them to better support their respective families while fulfilling their sworn duty to the nation.
The Filipino people can expect the PCG to continue delivering prompt and necessary public service toward a progressive and stable Country.
Meanwhile, Assistant Minority Leader and Kabataan Representative Atty. Renee Co slams base pay increase for MUP.
According to Co, if the president is sincere he should also include the base pay of healthcare professionals, teachers, farmers and Filipino workers.
