Manila, Philippines – A warrant of arrest against government contractor Sara Discaya may be issued as early as this week.
According to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., it will not take long before authorities are able to arrest Sara Discaya.
The President also announced that eight officials from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Davao Occidental have already surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to face charges related to the flood control anomaly.
Sara Discaya and her husband Curlee Discaya own major construction firms, including Alpha and Omega Construction and St. Gerrard Construction Company, companies that bagged billions worth of government flood control projects.
Discaya, along with nine other individuals, is facing charges of malversation of public funds and alleged violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act over the PHP 96.5-million ghost flood control project in Barangay Culaman, Davao Occidental.
President Marcos has already directed the Department of the Interior and Local Government to locate contractor Sara Discaya immediately.
PROPERTIES OF CONSTRUCTION FIRMS, 2 LAWMAKERS LINKED TO ANOMALOUS FLOOD CONTROL PROJECTS FROZEN BY CA
Marcos announced this Tuesday that the Court of Appeals has issued a freeze order on the assets of two construction firms and two lawmakers implicated in anomalous flood control projects.
Covered by the freeze order are 280 bank accounts, 22 insurance policies, 3 securities accounts, and 8 aircraft belonging to Silverwolves Construction Corporation and Sky Yard Aviation Corporation.
Also included are the properties and bank accounts of lawmakers Congressman Eric Yap and Congressman Edvic Yap.
According to President Marcos, the freeze order will help ensure that these assets, allegedly derived from public funds, cannot be disposed of or hidden.
The President said more than PHP 16 billion in transactions went through Silverwolves Construction Corporation from 2022 to 2025, most of which were linked to flood control projects.
Last October, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla named Eric Yap as a person of interest due to his alleged connection with a fully paid but incomplete flood control project in La Union.
Remulla also claimed that Edvic Yap and Bulacan Representative Salvador Pleyto received money from spouses Curlee and Sara Discaya.
Both Pleyto and Congressman Eric Yap have denied the allegations.—Krizza Lopez, Eurotv News
