Manila, Philippines — Amidst the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, self-claimed bagman of Duterte is being considered as one of the key material in the allegations.
Based on his first affidavit, Madriaga claimed to have made cash deliveries on Duterte’s orders, and accused that her campaign was funded by POGO and drug lords.
In April, Madriaga, filed a supplementary affidavit that contained allegations that the Duterte’s plotted an impeachment and assassination attempt against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
These testimonies were denied and countered by Duterte’s camp.
Earlier in March, Duterte filed a perjury complaint against Madriaga over his first sworn affidavit.
And on Monday, August 17, the Vice President filed a second perjury complaint over the April supplemental affidavit.
According to Legal Counsel Atty. Paolo Panelo, the almost 1000 pages complaint consists of evidences and documents to expose the malicious and deliberate falsehoods claims of Madriaga.
Aside from Duterte herself, attached in the complaint is 12 sworn testimonies of corroborating witnesses, government and other official documents and certifications, messages, photographs, and other public records.
Panelo said that this ‘exhaustive and technically unnecessary effort’ is done to ensure that Madriaga is held accountable and to unmask the malicious and baseless accusations against the Vice President.—Mia Layaguin, Contributor
