Tacloban City, Philippines — 21 days after the shooting incident at San Jose National High School in Tacloban City, and five days since the resumption of in-person classes.
SJNHS announced the implementation of blended learning for its students starting on July 14.
This came after the school was again disrupted by a threat reportedly contained in a message received by a teacher.
The message allegedly contained a plan for another shooting incident at San Jose NHS, targeting Grade 8 and Grade 7 learners.
The message also identified specific sections and names of individuals who were allegedly being targeted by 10 people who were reportedly planning to go to the school and carry out the attack.
According to the sender, the information came from Nash, a minor who was also involved in the shooting incident at the same school on June 22.
In a statement released by the Department of Education Schools Division of Tacloban, officials immediately coordinated with the Philippine National Police (PNP) to conduct an investigation.
Additional police personnel and barangay security volunteers have also been deployed inside and outside the school premises.
Authorities are currently investigating the online threat received by the school as well as the identity of the sender.
The DepEd Tacloban urged the public not to spread speculations, unverified information, or name of any individual unless such information has been confirmed through the proper investigation by authorities.
For now, students of San Jose National High School have temporarily shifted to blended learning until the resumption of in-person classes is officially announced.
DepEd also appealed to teachers, students, and parents to immediately report any kind of security threat to the appropriate agencies.
The Schools Division likewise called on everyone to remain calm and vigilant.
