MANILA — Christian Standhardinger is ready to wear new colors for the upcoming PBA Season 49 following a trade announced by the league early Saturday. Standhardinger, along with Stanley Pringle and Barangay Ginebra’s 10th overall pick in the 2024 Rookie Draft, will be moving to TerraFirma Dyip in exchange for Stephen Holt, Isaac Go, and the No. 3 overall pick.
In the wake of the trade, the 2022-23 Commissioner’s Cup Finals MVP shared a heartfelt message for the Gin Kings, where he played from 2021 to the 2024 Philippine Cup.
“Hello Ginebra Nation, I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible support and love you’ve shown me throughout my time with Barangay Ginebra,” he stated. The four-time PBA champion, who won two titles with Ginebra, added, “Being part of this team has been a truly unforgettable journey, and I’m grateful for every cheer, every chant, and every moment of encouragement.”
He thanked the fans, saying, “Your unwavering support has meant the world to me, and it has been an honor to play for you and represent the Ginebra colors.”
Standhardinger also expressed appreciation to the management of San Miguel, particularly Boss Ramon S. Ang and Boss Alfrancis Chua, for their trust and commitment, acknowledging the opportunity to be part of a prestigious organization.
Acquired by Ginebra from NorthPort Batang Pier in March 2021 in exchange for Greg Slaughter, Standhardinger has since earned accolades including a pair of titles, a Finals MVP award, and the 2023 Governors’ Cup Best Player of the Conference.
“To my teammates, it has been an honor battling alongside you. We shared some amazing moments, including winning two championships, and I will always cherish those memories,” he remarked. He also noted his respect for Coach Tim Cone’s decision to trade him, stating, “It’s part of the game, and I wish him and the team all the best moving forward.”
Standhardinger concluded by expressing gratitude for the journey and looking forward to new beginnings with TerraFirma Dyip, where he is expected to play a significant role in their Season 49 campaign. He currently ranks second in the Season 49 MVP race, averaging 19.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 0.6 steals per game last season.
