COMELEC KICKS OFF MOCK ELECTIONS FOR MAY POLLS

Manila, Philippines — The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) on Saturday conducted mock elections in several areas in the country, as part of the preparations and processes ahead the 2025 National and Local Elections (NLE) in May.

The mock elections started at 7:00 am until 10:00 am and were held simultaneously on several places, including Pateros, Taguig, and Makati in National Capital Region, areas in Mt. Province and Rizal, Eastern Samar, Surigao del Norte, Sulu, and Special Geographic Area (SGA).

Section 9 of Republic Act No.9369 states that conduct of mock elections is a requirement to issue a Certificate by the Technical Evaluation Committee that the Automated Election System (AES) and its components are working properly.

Hence, mock elections serves as a test to check if the election-related machines are ready for usage for the polls.

Actual registered voters of the selected clustered precints participated in the mock elections.
