Manila, Philippines — Following the tragic shooting incident in San Jose National High School in Tacloban City on June 22, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the immediate conduct of a thorough investigation on the incident.
Marcos likewise extended his grief and condolences for all the victims, ensuring to provide all the support and assistance to all the affected.
In a statement, Palace Press Officer and Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro announced that all the families of the deceased victims will receive P150,000 financial assistance from the government.
Three students died, while 20 others were injured.
The Palace also noted that the Department of Education and Department of Health will be providing psychosocial support and services for all the students and school personnel who got traumatized from the incident.
Presently, the two suspects, aged 14 and 15, who fired at least 30 shots, are under police custody. The suspects are students from the same high school.
Due to the fatal school shooting, the Department of Education, in coordination with the Philippine National Police and other agencies, have initiated measures to ensure the security inside and outside schools.—Mia Layaguin, Eurotv News
