Manila, Philippines – Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi is scheduled to visit the country this coming January 14th to 15th.
This was prompted by Foreign Affairs Secretary Enrique Manalo’s invitation to Iwaya.
According to the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) statement, Manalo and Iwaya will have a bilateral meeting to discuss politics, defense, security, economy and development cooperation.
The meeting will also cover other important aspects on mutual concern of both countries.
The two Foreign Ministers will also exchange views on regional and even international developments.
In the midst of the increasing complexity in security environment, the Philippines and Japan are expected to reaffirm their mutual commitment to enhance the ‘Strengthened Strategic Partnership’ between the two countries.
July 2024 when Tokyo and Manila signed the Reciprocal Access Agreement (RAA) which firmly contribute towards maintaining security and a peaceful Indo-Pacific Region.
Next year, the Philippines and Japan will celebrate the 70th year of normalization of bilateral relations.
