QUEZON CITY — The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) under the leadership of Police Brigadier General Randy Glenn Silvio is on full alert in preparation for the possible impact of Typhoon Inday (Bavi), this July 9, 2026.
All QCPD units have been placed on full disaster preparedness to ensure immediate response to any incident. The district has also coordinated with the Quezon City Local Government Unit (LGU), Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO), and other related agencies for proper coordination of the emergency response.
The QCPD is also continuing to assess the readiness of its personnel, rescue equipment, vehicles, and communication systems. Police are also monitoring flood-prone areas, evacuation centers, main roads, and transport terminals in the city.
Disaster response teams are also on standby for search and rescue operations, evacuation assistance, traffic management, law enforcement, and other necessary humanitarian assistance in case the storm’s impact worsens.
According to the latest weather bulletin of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Super Typhoon Bavi has weakened to Typhoon Inday as it moves west-northwest within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
Although it is not expected to make direct landfall in the country, it continues to strengthen the southwest monsoon or habagat which may cause heavy rains and gusty winds in some parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila.
“The QCPD assures the public that all stations remain prepared to respond at any time and are committed to safeguarding lives, protecting property, and maintaining peace and order before, during, and after the onslaught of Super Typhoon Bavi (Inday),” said PBGen. Silvio.
The QCPD also called on QCitizens to remain alert, follow PAGASA and local government advisories, and cooperate with authorities to ensure everyone’s safety while continuing to monitor the storm’s movement. — Graciella Diez, Contributor
